Begun by South-West Holy Cross educators as a way to foster Province-wide esprit de corps, the Table has become a national model of partnership. High school principals, presidents, and other committed lay and religious meet regularly to discuss common issues and forge collaborative ventures, including:
The Table also serves as a model for ground-up as opposed to top-down growth and development. Its genesis reflects the charism and spirit of the Congregation of Holy Cross, which spread from a neighborhood in LeMans, France into a worldwide ministry. It is another example of experiences fostered by the South-West Province to fulfill our information-formation-transformation paradigm by:
| |
sharing knowledge that educates the mind and heart
|
| |
forming our spirits and talents for the greatest good
|
| |
transforming ourselves to make the planet more peaceful and just
|
The Table also fulfills the statement by the Congregations General Chapter of 1998:
We are learning that not only do we ourselves stand to learn much from those whom we are called to teach but also from those with whom we teach. From their long years of steadfast and competent service, we have come to regard our lay colleagues as closest neighbors, trustworthy friends, brothers and sisters. We celebrate their presence and active participation as a sign of great hope for our future.
