Moreau House provides family-style campus living for male students or graduates of St. Edward’s University. Drawn by the community spirit and shared values, these collegians live with Holy Cross Brothers and candidates who are studying to be Holy Cross Brothers or priests.
The Moreauvians, as they call themselves, take turns making dinner,
and they enjoy spirited debates over the meals. They also
share prayer, household chores, a weekly Egg ministry feeding
the homeless, and deep, abiding friendship. Residents express
the benefits:
“Community life offers more support and strength, plus the chance to integrate our spirituality with all the other aspects of our lives.”
—John Fiedler
“It’s a great place to mature on a college campus. What we have is almost like a brotherhood, and it fosters a different kind of growth.”
—Cole Harper
“I didn’t expect the level of friendliness. It’s like being in a storybook that we end up living.”
—Boomer Trujillo
“The Brothers made me feel so comfortable.
We have a lot of fun — waterskiing and jet-skiing on Lake Austin,
or just going to movies and ordering a pizza. Our girlfriends
wish they had an experience like this, too.”
—James Mauer
Young
men do not necessarily perceive themselves as having a vocation
when they join Moreau House, however, this is an excellent
opportunity to explore that possibility. Spiritual direction is available
for all residents. For more information or to schedule a visit, contact
Brother John Perron, CSC or Brother
Stephen Walsh, CSC.
