Reflections on Mission
“When we truly understand and believe in the mission of Holy Cross,
it becomes ingrained in every fiber of our being. [After
Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast], we learned about Holy Cross
schools across the country that were helping to care for our New Orleans
students and their families. Crises bring out the best and the worst
of human beings. . . But this outreach — so typical of our Holy
Cross family network—has
also reminded me of the mission we are here to carry out
and has strengthened our hearts.”

The compelling issue is creating a communion of persons committed to realizing a mission that is based on faith. Like our students, we too are seeking a sense of belonging. Where is my touchstone in this community? Where do I find hospitality and compassion among my colleagues? When and how do I provide hospitality and compassion to them?
